Pu Thangmawia has been with Bharat Scouts & Guides Mizoram State Association as a Scout Master and Commissioner since 1974. He has been actively involved in the World Scout movement for 49 years. He has been an active member of Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) since 1992 where he has served for 30 years in various roles at the Zemabawk branch, and has several responsibilities such as Mizoram State Sub Region Vice President, Chairman, and Vice Chairman for the North East India Region.
He is also a member of Mizo Academy of Letters and has been an Executive Council member for 30 years. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Adviser. He has also been an executive member of Mizo Writer Association for 10 years and has jointly authored three books.
